Saint Louis The Essential
Interesting
Tucked just south of the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers, St. Louis has always served as a river transport center, from the time of the Native Americans through the French period and on through the present. Eager settlers funneled through here in on their way west in the wake of the 1803 Louisiana Purchase and the subsequent Lewis and Clark expedition. Today it is a dynamic heartland city with a large service economy, a world-class symphony orchestra, several professional sports franchises and some of the best jazz and blues music n the country.
