This area was named for the 1.5mi flat "strip" of land it occupies. Since the 1920s, the Strip District has been better known as a streetside smorgasbord of wholesale-produce shops, bustling outdoor markets, flower stalls and ethnic food vendors. Shopping the Strip on Saturday mornings is a local tradition.
