Fisk University Galleries

After the death of her husband, American photographer Alfred Stieglitz, painter Georgia O'Keeffe donated their personal art collection to this black institution. Today the Carl Van Vechten Art Gallery (Jackson St.) is named for the supporter of the New York-based Harlem Renaissance who later chaired Fisk University's fine-arts commission. Holdings include 101 paintings, drawings, photographs and sculptures by outstanding artists from Stieglitz and O'Keeffe to Cézanne, Picasso and Rivera.
