Tombs of the Nobles
In the shadow of the Pyramid of Unas lies a huge series of private mastabas, four of which are particularly well preserved. They were discovered during digs led by the Egyptian Egyptologist Ahmed Moussa. It is well worth coming to see the decor of market and hunting scenes in the mastaba of Niankhkhnum and Khnumhotep; the highly expressive statues of young men in the tomb of Iroukaptah; and the fine rock scenes showing papyrus being gathered in the tomb of Nefer.
