Imperial City of Meknes

Moulay Ismaïl (1647-1727) was a builder sultan who left Meknes the legacy of his outstanding achievements. EnjoyBab Berdaïne andBab el Khémis , two superb gates pierced in the dozens of kilometres of walls erected at the time. The "wall of the Rich", which protected the well-to-do from invaders, opens onto the imperial city featuring the Aguedal pool,Dar el Ma and granaries for storing water and goods; thesultan's tomb and the Christians' prison. The legendaryBab Mansour (Mansour Gate) was finished after the sultan's death.
