Sale Medersa

Interesting
Medersas, establishments designed for Koranic instruction and student lodgings, were built in this country by the Marinids between the 14C and 16C. The Salé Medersa was built according to their traditional aesthetic codes and organising principles: a sculpted gate topped by a cedar wood canopy; a square courtyard flanked in the middle by a fountain for ablutions; and a prayer hall (haram) with a sculpted and painted cedar wood ceiling. The only particularity is that the rooms open onto the outside of the Medersa rather than onto inner galleries. Fine view from the terrace.
