Interesting
The name of this village comes from the huge cabbage palm forest that once covered the region. It boasts some of the island's most beautiful Creole houses, including the Tourelles estate, a manor house now given over to the tourist office and arts and crafts shops. Pelmets, shingles, verandas and flower gardens contribute to maintaining the charming atmosphere of yesteryear, and the inhabitants' warm welcome makes up for the harsh climate. Every June, the Fête du Goyavier (guava festival) is held on the fairgrounds.
