The Essential
Interesting
This village, whose name was derived from the huge palm forest that once covered the region. It boasts some of the island's loveliest Creole houses, including Domaine des Tourelles, a manor house now given over to a shop selling handicrafts, and craftsmen's workshops. Cornices, shingles and verandas, and flower gardens, such as at the Maison du Parc National de la Réunion, contribute to maintaining the charming atmosphere of yesteryear. Every June, the Fête du Goyavier (guava festival) is held on the fairground.
