The peaceful district capital that stretches along the Sangker river is the country's 2nd largest city in terms of population. Its pagodas and pale yellow walls witnessed the reign of the Siamese, then the French before finally becoming Cambodian again. From Chinese trading houses to the governor's palace and the French quarter...its colonial architecture is not to be missed. The lovely countryside is also worth exploring (on a bicycle), with its pagodas and rice-paddies, ancient and modern temples or lovely wooden houses.
