The Humble Administrator's Garden
Created in the 16C, the Humble Administrator's Garden was the private estate of Wang Xianzheng, a censor at the imperial court. This 52ha garden divided into three parts takes water as its theme, and is dotted with small bamboo-covered islands, streams and ponds - like an artist's impression of a country idyll. The garden's western section is renowned for the 36 Mandarin Duck Pairs Pavilion, built on stilts and with blue-tinted stained-glass windows.
