The Bund

Highly recommended
The Bund (or Waitan): the historic wharf of the international concession is lined by branches of 1920s and 1930s financial institutions standing proud. Since transformed into a paved esplanade surrounded by trendy shops, the Bund is as busy and lively as ever. The waterfront is a must, both by day and night, and a great way to see the incessant comings and goings of the junks and tourist boats. To the rear is a joyful gaggle of cheap restaurants, markets and fashionable boutiques.
