Qingkou
The Essential
Recommended
The Hani village of Qingkou resembles a museum. Its houses with adobe walls rendered with buffalo dung (an insulating material) are typical of the local dwellings. The roofs have a wooden or bamboo frame and are referred to as "mushroom roofs" (mogufan). The roofing itself is either thatch (longer lasting) or rice straw (more common) and consists of four sides in a Hani house and two in a Yi house.
