Udaipur's main attraction is its delightful natural setting: the "city of dawn", founded in the 16C, stands at the foot of the Aravalli mountains on the shores of two lakes, one of which is the romantic Pichola Lake. The city is also home to some stunning monuments, such as the City Palace, the largest palace in Rajasthan, which was built between the 16C and 20C in a mix of Rajput and Mughal styles. Also of interest are the city's havelis and the temples in the old town.
