Southern Slopes of Batukaru

On the southern flank of Bali's second-highest mountain, Batukaru volcano (2 276m) is the site of the island's most beautiful terraced rice paddy landscape, particularly around the villages of Gunungsari and Jatiluwih. Emerging from the lush green countryside, Pura Luhur Batukaru temple is the sanctuary of an amazing butterfly colony. Other animals can also be observed in a farm at Wanasari. Not far away, the Yeh Panas spa resort at Penataran invites you to relax and wind down in style.
