Inuyama

To the northwest of Aichi Prefecture lies Inuyama, a sleepy little town on the banks of the River Kiso which boasts Japan's oldest castle. It is worth spending a day here to explore the picturesque streets, temples and shrines, and the nearby Meiji-mura Park. From June to September, cormorant fishing demonstrations are held on the Kiso River, around 1pm and every evening towards 7pm. Visitors can watch while they dine on board a flat-bottomed boat.
