Imari
The Essential
Interesting
Both a port and a renowned pottery centre, as early as the 17C, Imari was luring Dutch ships away from Chinese ports to come here and stock up on local pottery, very sought after in all the European courts at the time. Near River Imari is the Imari Museum of Ceramic Trade which showcases some old Koimari ceramic pieces. However the majority of the kiln-workshops and galleries are in the nearby mountain village of Ôkawachiyama.
