Polonnaruwa: Crematory Monastery

Recommended
The ruins of Alahena Pirivena, a huge monastery spread over nearly 80 hectares/198 acres on the hillside, were uncovered thanks to funding from UNESCO. It is however just one of the monasteries in the city built by Parakrama Bahu outside the walled city of Polonnaruwa.
