Cu Chi Tunnels

Originally dug by the Viet Minh, the Cu Chi tunnels, 45km from Ho Chi Minh City, were extended to combat American troops, who destroyed the network during the huge and bloody Tet Offensive on 31 January 1968, resulting in the annihilation of a system that was both extremely sophisticated yet at the same time wretched in terms of its living conditions. Today, the unique Ben Duoc site, a successful re-creation of the tunnels, provides an insight into the lives of the Vietcong at the time.
