Salar de Salinas Grandes
Covering a surface area of 212 km², Salinas Grandes is an immense, dazzling white expanse, intersected by the thick black line that is Ruta 40. Created almost 10 million years ago from a saltwater lake, Salinas Grandes salar (salt flats) is an impressive sight. You get an idea of the laborious nature of the work of gathering the precious salt, as you venture onto the salt pan as far as one of the saltmining sites. Spectacular!
