St-Antoine Market

Interesting
Pointe-à-Pitre is renowned for its numerous markets, but it is the St-Antoine market (mornings, west of Rue Frébault) that eclipses all others. This is the quintessential island market, its stalls groaning with cinammon, ginger (but note that most of the spices are imports!), carambole fruit and other chayotes. The colourful fabrics worn by the locals add to the spectacle. Popular with tourists, this busy market opens at 6am.
