Everyone has seen the gorgeous photographs of the bay fringed by a long strip of sand. And we all know about its reputation as a jet-set seaside resort at its peak in the 1950s. That legendary Acapulco is indeed to be found, on the seafront. But the concrete blocks may conceal a more mixed reality - a noisy, chaotic town. The municipality may be employing great means to safeguard tourism, Acapulco is today at the epicentre of the war waged by drug cartels and struggling to fill its huge hotels.
