Cañón del Apurímac
For safety reasons, tourists are strongly advised to avoid this region . The Cañón del Apurímac is famous for itssuspension bridge . Up until the 19C, people went over the precarious one made by the Incas out of planks and rope, taking travellers over the Río Apurímac at a dizzying height. Today the Puente Cúnyac, which replaces it, commands a fantastic view of the sierras, whose jagged crests stand out on the horizon, while the river can be seen winding its way through the canyon below.
