Santa Catalina Convent and Museum

Interesting
The monasterio Santa Catalina (17C) has for centuries provided refuge for women who wished to retreat from the world. It was founded on the site of the acclahuasi (temple of the virgins of the sun) where well-born young girls were locked up. These nuns lived, worked, wove, prepared ceremonial beverages and generally remained at the disposition of the sovereign. Some of the convent's rooms are open and you can admire religious art and some works by the Cuzco School.
