Museo Tumbas Reales of Sipán
This museum showcases a profusion of gold jewellery and other treasures (headdresses, ceremonial vessels and sceptres), all of which bear witness to the mastery and sophistication of the craftsmen of the Mochica culture of Sipán. Apart from the scary Crab-Man and Squid-Man statues, the stars of the show come from the tomb of a nobleman of Sipán (c. 3C), displayed in a striking reconstitution by the museum (his suite is depicted in a room in 3D).
Recently excavated Pre-Incan treasures
Finely chiselled gold jewellery and puma-shaped, stirrup-spout earthenware bottles – the recent discoveries of the Moche culture unearthed at the Trujillo archaeological site and in the tomb at Lambayaque bear witness to the expert craft skills of the early Andean cities along the northern coast of Peru.Discover
