Waidhofen an der Thaya
Waidhofen occupies a pleasant site on the left bank of the Thaya. The town grew from a fortified settlement and has retained vestiges of its former ramparts, which have now been turned into fine promenades. Visitors might like to stroll through its ancient streets on the way to the main square, the Hauptplatz, at the centre of which a Trinity Column stands. You will also notice two important buildings: the Renaissance Town Hall and the parish church, with dazzling Baroque decorations.
