Domplatz

The Venitian design, by town planner Scamozzi, of several of the Old Town's squares is due to prince-archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau's munificence. Porticoes linking the cathedral's façade to the façades of neighbouring palaces strengthen the attractive architectural unity of the square. There is a fine column of the Virgin Mary (1771) at the centre of the square.
