Kufstein Fortress

The huge fortress of Kufstein is striking for its imposing Emperor's Tower. From the courtyard (Festung), the fortress interior is accessed either via a covered staircase (which leads to the "door of the Bavarian invasion") or by taking the Panoramabahn Kaiser Maximilian (panoramic train). A rocky underground corridor, about 170m long, leads to the gate known as the "Peacock's Tail" (Pfauenschweif) and from there to the Josefsburg with its renovated blockhouses.
