The Hofburg: Armoury

Recommended
Located in the New Palace, this rich collection of weaponry and armourwas begun in the early 15C by the Archdukes Ernest of Styria (1377-1424) and Ferdinand of Tyrol (1527-1595), and regularly added to, thanks to the different alliances between the royal families of Western Europe. The ingenious filigree decoration of the ceremonial armour, helmets and saddles are also a reflection of Europe's history.
