Lier Begijnhof

Interesting
The Beguine convent dates from the 13C but most of its houses date from the 17C and 18C. The entrance is a late-17C Renaissance portico, topped by a statue of St Begga. The cottages lining narrow paved alleys bear evocative names such as "Flight to Egypt" or "Five Small Wounds"and some have small front gardens. The church has a 17C Baroque façade, crowned by scrolling and a lantern turret from the 18C.
