Aarschot
The Essential
Visible from afar, thanks to its collegiate church tower, Aarschot is a small town built on the banks of the Demer. With its mills reflected in the river and its medieval towers, the town is a picturesque sight. Among the famous inhabitants, the painter Pieter Jozef Verhaghen had an admirer in the form of Empress Marie Theresa of Austria. Horst Castle lies in the surrounding Hageland countryside.
