Brijuni archipelago

Recommended
This archipelago has 14 islands, covering a total surface area of 736 ha. The largest is called Veli (The Big) Brijun. It was the property of an Austrian, Paul Kupelweiser between 1893 and 1919, to whom it owes its beautiful trees. The archipelago was also the favourite residence of Marshal Tito who signed the non-alignment pact here on July 19, 1956. Still an official State residence, the archipelago is also a national park.
