Elsinore Castle

Highly recommended
Commanding a peninsula that juts out into Øresund (The Sound), Kronborg Castle at Elsinore was famously chosen by Shakespeare as the setting for Hamlet. But it is also greatly symbolic of Danish maritime power, personified by the legendary Ogier the Dane, who is said to haunt the depths, where he is buried. Defying the sea by its impressive mass and surrounded by deep moats, it contains some superb rooms, including the chapel, King's and Queen's chambers and ballroom. The castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
