National Museum of Finland

Recommended
Constructed between 1905 and 1910 by Gesellius, Lindgren and Saarinen, this building was a latecomer in the canon of National Romanticism. It has a high steeple and circular tower, decorated with frescoes inspired by the Kalevala by Akseli Gallen-Kallela (1928), and is a perfect architectural backdrop for the rich collections of the Finnish National Museum, which illustrates the history of the country from prehistoric times to the 19C. First-class exhibitions are also organised.
