Olympic Stadium

Interesting
Inspired by Functionalism, the stadium was built for the 1940 Olympics, which in the end did not take place until 1952. At the entrance is a statue of Paavo Nurmi, the "Flying Finn" who garnered titles and medals in middle- and long-distance running in the 1920s. A 72m-high tower affords panoramic views over the city, lakes and woods that surround it. The Sports Museum of Finland illustrates some of the glorious moments in Finnish sport.
