Urho Kekkonen Museum, Tamminiemi

Interesting
This villa (early 20C) was bequeathed to the State in 1940 by the editor Amos Anderson. Presidents R Ryti and CG Mannerheim made Tamminiemi their official residence, but it is Urho Kekkonen (1900-86) who left the most memories. He lived here from his election (1956) until 1981. The house now contains a museum charting the events, both personal and political, that marked his four terms in office. You will notice the Art Nouveau architecture, but also the 1970s interiors.
