Convent Church of Naantali

The convent church is all that remains of the convent of the Catholic order founded by St Birgitta in 1443 and completed in 1462. Disbanded during the Reformation (16C), it became a Lutheran church. Among the treasures to be seen inside are a fine Renaissance pulpit; a piece by RW Ekman, A Sinful Woman in the House of the Pharisee (1868), in the centre of the north wall, and, on the left, at the beginning of the nave, a Gothic ciborium (1369). A highly renowned music festival is held here in June.
