Church of St Peter and St Paul

Interesting
Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul church is the most complete example of Romanesque architecture in Alsace. This 12C yellow sandstone church in the form of a Latin cross has an octagonal bell tower above the transept crossing which dates from the 14C. Lombard bands, linked with arcatures running along the upper parts of the nave and aisles, decorate the façade and walls, while the four corners of the apse window are adorned with the symbols of the Evangelists. The church interior is a masterpiece of 12C Rhineland art, with its thick and thin pillars crowned with sculpted capitals.
