Ensisheim
The Essential
The heyday of Ennsisheim occurred in 1135, when it became the capital of the Habsburg possessions in Alsace, Baden and northern Switzerland. The few fine houses still remaining from the Gothic to the Renaissance bear witness to this golden era, which the advent of the Thirty Years War brought to an end. Make sure you keep a look out for the first meteorite recorded in history (1492)!
