Many of the streets of the preserved medieval village of Saint Jean de Côle, lined with half-timbered houses, are still cobbled. The main square boasts a fine 11C church with beautiful carved capitals, a covered market, 12C Marthonie château and stone houses, whose ochre-coloured walls blend in beautifully with the brown tiles of their roofs. A small 15C bridge spans the river and leads to the former mill of the priory.
