Grand Théâtre

Recommended
Built from 1773 to 1780 by architect Victor Louis in pure neo-Classical style, the Grand Théâtre is one of the most beautiful in France. The refined interior staircase inspired Garnier for his Paris opera house. The auditorium, which features twelve gold-leaf pillars and is entirely clad in wood, is considered to have perfect acoustics. Look up at the ceiling, painted in 1917 by Roganeau on the model of Jean-Baptiste Robin's primitive frescoes, and admire the chandelier which has no less than 14,000 Bohemia crystals.
