The Essential
Highly recommended
If you go to St Emilion to enjoy the wine (and enjoy it you surely will), you will realise that this is also a place of beauty. Perched on a rocky spur, it is one of Aquitaine's finest medieval towns, with pale stone buildings, small squares and little alleyways. Set in a landscape of remarkably well-preserved vineyards, where it is a delight to stroll, it shares with the neighbouring towns the pride of being designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as a "cultural landscape".
