Saint-Émilion
The Essential
Highly recommended
Visitors flock to St-Émilion to enjoy its wine (of course!) as well as to admire what is one of the prettiest towns in the Aquitaine, with its pale stone buildings crowned by dusty pink tile roofs, and several underground sites of interest such as the monolithic church around Place du Marché. The latter links two hills, one the site of the Tour du Roi, a tower symbolising civic power, the other the collegiate church, the symbol of religious power.
