Maison de la Dame de Brassempouy - Archéoparc

The famous Vénus de Brassempouy, the Dame à la Capuche ("cowled lady"), is a mammoth-ivory statuette from 23 000 BC, one of the oldest carved representations of a human face currently known. The exhibition explains the excavations conducted on site from the 19C. Objets d'art and everyday items are displayed, along with casts from the Upper Palaeolithic period. After the museum, look around the ArchéoParc: flint knapping, fire lighting and prehistoric hunting, all in lovely grounds planted with trees.
