Bonaguil Castle

The exceptionally well-preserved Château de Bonaguil has fascinated many, from Lawrence of Arabia to Viollet-le-Duc (who even tried to buy it). Although it has existed since the 13C, it was transformed into an impregnable fortress between the 15C and 16C, even though the fashion at the time was for pleasure palaces. Drink in the panoramic views from the terrace, after visiting the barbican, caves and the Great Tower. In summer theatrical events are put on in the evenings.
