Interesting
Built in the 16C in the Renaissance style and Sited on the right bank of the Bidassoa river which runs into the ocean, Hendaye is composed of three districts: Hendaye-Gare (station), Hendaye-Ville (town), and Hendaye-Plage (beach) and planted with a multitude of magnolias, palm-trees, tamarisks, eucalyptuses, mimosas and oleanders. A number of neo-Basque houses (early 20C), distinctive of the town's architectural heritage, stand just behind the beach. Don't hesitate to walk all the way to the end of the dyke; you will be rewarded by a lovely view of the shoreline.
