Boulevard des Pyrénées
Boulevard des Pyrénées, some 1,800m/5,900ft long dates from the late 19C. It overlooks the terraced gardens that link the upper and lower towns of Pau by the Sentiers du Roy (King's paths) and commands a splendid view over the Pyrenees. Beyond the hillsides of Gelos and Jurançon, the panorama unfolds from the peak of Midi de Bigorre to that of Anie. Beaumont park lies at one end of the boulevard, complete with a rose garden, lake and Beaumont palace, the former winter palace dating from 1900 and a casino.
