The Bourbonnais capital stands on the banks of the Allier. It is always a delight to walk along the waterside in the old Mariniers quarter, or in the old town, which boasts a remarkable architectural heritage. Moulins has original museums, some of which are the only ones of their kind in France, such as the Centre National du Costume de Scène (CNCS - stage costumes) and the Musée de l'Illustration Jeunesse (MIJ - book illustrations), which puts on new and always fascinating exhibitions every year.
