Built in grey volcanic stone, this basilica boasts a remarkable unity of style. Outside, admire the beautiful but simple east wall, with its four radiant apsidioles. The ironwork on the leaves of the three doors is original. Like many other major Auvergne churches, the interior is extremely plain. The eye is drawn to a row of pillars towards the chancel, bathed in light. Behind the high altar, the famous enthroned Virgin of Orcival stands on top of a column.
