Begun in 1056 and amazingly unscathed during the bombings, the cathedral and its tall slender spires is Normandy's most well-known Gothic masterpiece. The remarkable octagonal turreted lantern tower, noted for its slender ribbing, stands at a height of 41m/135ft at the transept crossing. A guided tour will take you to the upper levels to discover the Romanesque parts of the edifice and offer you the chance to enjoy the superb panorama of the coast.
