Domfront enjoys an enviable location on the old road from Mont St-Michel to Paris. Perched 70m above the River Varenne, it stands out in two ways. One as a gastronomic town at the heart of a landscape given over to pear trees (try the local pear drink). Two as a historic site: It has old private residences abutting the vestiges of its medieval fortress in the keep gardens, and Romanesque churches like Notre Dame sur l'Eau.
