The castle has watched over the ramparts and countryside since the 11C. Remodelled from the 13C-16C, it has retained its splendour, in evidence from the very entrance, which is defended by a drawbridge and robust gatehouse flanked by two large machicolated towers. From the keep, the view over the jumble of slate roofs makes plain the narrowness of the streets. You will discover sculptures, tapestries, coats of arms, as well as a cabinet of curiosities and, in the Oratory Tower, a fine 16C triptych decorated with Limoges enamel.
