When to go
So as not to enter into the eternal debate of whether it rains a lot in Brittany or not, let's just say that in any case summer is the best time to go walking or swimming, to fill your lungs with the fresh air, take in some culture and enjoy yourself. It's also the time of year for the big music festivals, with La Route du Rock in St-Malo, the Inter-Celtic Festival in Lorient and the Vieilles Charrues Festival in Carhaix all having made a name for themselves.
If you prefer a little more drama, opt for the spectacular high tides in spring and autumn.
As for winter, very few tourists are to be seen. It's a generally mild season, and you will always find a welcoming crêperie to take the edge off the cold!
